
Elizabeth Santos Leal de Carvalho was born in Rio de Janeiro, on May 5, 1946. Daughter of João Francisco Leal de Carvalho and Maria Nair Santos Leal de Carvalho, and sister of Vânia Santos Leal de Carvalho. Her contact with music was encouraged by the family, from childhood. At age eight, she listened, thrilled, to the songs of Silvio Caldas, Elizeth Cardoso and Aracy de Almeida, great friends of her father. Her grandmother, Ressú, played mandolin and guitar. In small parties and musical gatherings of the 60´s, the singer Beth Carvalho was born, influenced by all of this and by Bossa Nova.
Beth Carvalho is currently enjoying the 45th year of her career including a discography of 32 records and 4 DVDs. The singer has received six Sharp awards, 17 gold records, nine Platinum records, a Platinum DVD, along with hundreds of trophies and awards.

Internationally famous, the French David Guetta is considered one of the biggest DJs in the world. Guetta mainstreamed electronic music and showed that the "tuntz tuntz" combined with other musical styles such as pop and hip-hop can generate exciting combinations. With more than 60 years and Carnival champion twelve times, Beija-Flor is represented by the famous voice of its leader, Neguinho da Beija-Flor. "The blue and white of Nilópolis" brings the grandstands of Sapucaí to their feet with parades famous for its crowds filled with energy.
Beija-flor will take you to a rendezvous with happiness: you will not be able to stop from shaking your hips to the rhythm of at the turn of the year in Copacabana. And, of course, are invited to join!

With half the lyrics sung and half narrated, Maurício Baia has an irreverent way of singing the love, escaping from sweet romanticism. Intelligence and irony are the sharpest weapons in the compositions of this singer. He already has five records released and hits such as " Na Fé" and "Bicho Homem".
As a vocalist he is also part of the independent band Rockboys, that in 2012 completes a decade of success in the Brazilian music festivals circuit.

The Bloco do Sargento Pimenta (Sargent Pepper´s Band) came out for the first time at the Rio de Janeiro 2011 Carnival. With a totally innovative proposal, even for the diverse carioca crowd, the Bloco Sargento Pimenta only plays songs by the Beatles during their presentations. But don't think that they are just a cover of the Liverpool Quartet: the band arrived with a mix of the lyrics of Paul, Ringo, John and George and the Brazilian rhythms as maracatu, samba and funk.
In his first Carnival parade Sargento Pimenta joined people of all ages with energy and celebration, reaching more than five thousand people accompanying the beatlemania Carnival in Botafogo! And the next opportunity to watch a show of the band is coming: they will thrill the Copacabana Beach New Year's Eve crowd. You can´t miss it!

For 80 years in the Carnival of Rio, if there's a word that defines the parades of Unidos da Tijuca, it is creativity. The floats and costumes are eccentric, leaving everyone in awe. The last championship won by the school was a parade full of spells and an unforgettable chorus: "É segredo, não conto a ninguém/ Sou Tijuca e vou além/ O seu olhar vou iludir/ A tentação é descobrir".
To see the same excitement of Sapucaí at the turn of the year, Tijuca will perform at the show of Copacabana, you can't lose! Don't miss out!

Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Mangueira. A long name full of pomp and circumstance, this is the official name of Mangueira Samba School, which has shined in the Carnival for more than 80 years. But don't be fooled – there is nothing about it this samba school that is pompous, it is pure joy and celebation! With 17 carnival titles, even those are not Mangueirense sing along when, before entering the Sapucaí, the performers pull the traditional chorus of the hymn made in tribute to school: ô ô ô ô ô Mangueira is here.
While the Carnival is yet to come, how about ensuring the excitement on the first day of the year? The Green and pink is one of the attractions confirmed to play after the ringing of the New Year at Copacabana.

Musician residing in London, that carries Brazil not only in his heart but also in his surname: João Brazil was responsible for composing the soundtrack of the much awaited Fireworks in the turn of 2011.
The success was so great that he returns to orchestrate this year's fireworks too. João composed the fireworks soundtrack, but even before the explosion of color and music, we will be able to enjoy his music opening the main stage attractions. Known in the dance floors for being the King DJ of Mash-Ups, he does not deny the strong influence of Brazilian music in his compositions and his thing is to mix different musical styles to create unique sounds. It is to dance until you drop!

The singer and DJ has made partnerships with heavyweight names such as Seu Jorge and Martnália, proving that he can create a balance of rythms. And to complete the cauldron of styles of New Year's Eve 2012, Marcelinho da Lua will divide the public of Copacabana between reggae and electronic music. Guaranteed fun!
